Pastoral Visiting
The clergy of St Matthew's visit Nursing Homes and conduct pastoral visits and provide worship services. Parishioners in need are visited at home or in hospital and are provided succour and comfort.
Support of those in need
We provide food support for those in need in the Armadale area. Donations of in date, non perishable food items are greatly appreciated, as we frequently run out of food. When the Cafe is open those needing food hampers are also offered a meal and a drink and are invited to dine in the cafe. The emergency relief food menu is in our online documents.
There are many people living in poverty and without adequate housing nor sufficient food in the Armadale area. The parishioners generously donate foods to support the homeless and as needed food aid is provided from the Church. In 2021, over 800 food parcels were provided for those in need, including a mountain of warm blankets and clothes. You can support our mission by donating to our GoFundMe set up exclusively for emergency food support.
We provide one hamper a month per family, (except in unusual circumstances), it is just there are a lot of people in need. When the Cafe is open those needing food hampers are also offered a meal and a drink. The emergency relief food menu is in our online documents.
All food provided are within the used by date and anything overdue is not given out. We believe that vulnerable people should be treated dignity and we wouldn't give out anything we wouldn't eat ourselves. If you would like to donate non-perishable food please do so, but please don't clean out the back of the cupboard and donate food you wouldn't eat yourself.
