If you’re looking for a church to call ‘home’ we hope you’ll find a place with us at Saint Matthew's. We are located in the town centre of Armadale, Western Australia.
We’re a diverse collection of people of varying age, ethnicity, and religious tradition. Some of us have been worshipping here for many years and some of us are newcomers; some of us are life-long Anglicans and some of us come from other traditions; some of us live right here in Armadale and others from surrounding suburbs. For many this is a quiet and welcoming place for prayer or meditation. The foundation stone of our church was laid in 1904 and Saint Matthew's is very much part of the social fabric of Armadale. The Reverend Edward (Ted) Doncaster, who is a priest of this diocese and a church historian, has kindly provided some information on the history of the parish. This document and Ted's covering letter can be found at On Line Documents
Inclusive Church Statement:
“We affirm the Church’s mission, in obedience to Holy Scripture, is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every generation. We acknowledge that this is Good News for people regardless of their gender, race or sexual orientation. We believe that, in order to strengthen the Gospel’s proclamation of justice to the world, and for the greater glory of God, the Church’s own common life must be justly ordered. To that end, we call on our Church to live out the promise of the Gospel; to celebrate the diverse gifts of all the members of the Body of Christ; and in the ordering of our common life to open the ministries of deacon, priest and bishop to those so called to serve by God, regardless of their sex, race or sexual orientation.”
