29th January 2023 FRIDAY TEA DANCE
Well done everyone.
What a lovely evening of dancing, cake and blethers.
So many thanks to Alex for helping set up and for everyone helping tidy up after the dancing. It was much appreciated.
We had quite a full dancing programme planned and we got through a good number of popular dances.
The night flew by and we thought you would all enjoy a little longer blethering and dancing so we have decided to change the time from finishing at 9pm to 9.30pm. The evening session will remain at £7.50pp so there will be no additional cost to you.
It was lovely to see Charles from the Monday Tea Dance group and new dancers Carolyn and Colin. So please pass the word around as all are welcome.
See you all next week.

Hi all
Well, we all had a great session last night - a bit of easy dances, a bit of technique, a bit of teaching and a bit of re-visited dances + a cuppa and a biscuit with plenty of chat.
6.30pm to 7.30pm - Mayfair Quickstep to warm us up!!, Sally Ann Cha Cha Cha, Waltz Technique, Tango Giovanni
7.30pm to 8.10pm - Teaching of the brand new dance Sweet Bay Salsa
Cuppa
8.30pm to 9.30pm - Quick walk through of Variety Swing and a bit longer walk through of the Butterfly Jive then finished off with a requested Sindy Swing.
One more class to go (Tuesday 15th) until we head off to the Canaries for a 'working' cruise onboard P&O Azura for a week.
Classes restart TUESDAY 29th but NO CLASS ON FRIDAY 2nd because of a Community Event.
Then Tuesday 7th, Friday 9th, Tuesday 13th and Friday 16th.
As we mentioned before our costs have been the same since 2009 but with the increase in costs we sadly have had to increase our lesson prices - These new prices are still lower than comparative lessons. We hope you will still be able to come.
NEW PRICES FROM TUESDAY 29th November
TUESDAYS - £7.00 per person
FRIDAYS - £7.50 per person (including cuppa)
Reminder that you can pay direct to the bank

Dear friends
This may not come as a surprise to some but we have been seriously considering the future of our dance classes.
As some of you may know we attempted to resurrect the Monday Dalbeattie Tea Dances but the low numbers could not justify continuing. On the fourth of four planned sessions we only had 8 dancers.
We have been thinking about this for a few months now. The number of times we have changed our minds because of many of your unsolicited kind and positive comments and new additions to the group. However with dwindling class numbers and increasing costs of dance insurance, association membership, music licence, script service and now hall charges we need to review our current situation as recently we have been losing money.
We have always been happy to provide a service, regardless of the money side of things, where we have thoroughly enjoyed teaching and seeing the improvements and enjoyment of our dancers.
We have always tried to give the best service possible and have changed the format of the sessions to suit various dancers and not changed our fees for many years but making lots of money was never our main focus. We just love the teaching side of the dance classes and it has been great to see so many improvements.
We intend to continue until mid-November when we have a ‘working cruise’ on board the P&O ship Azura then review the situation again.
A half-way solution was to close our Tuesday class and focus on the Friday one with Beginners from 6.30pm to 7.30pm followed by 30mins teaching more up-to-date dances. Cuppa then on to 9.30pm with a range of our dances.
1st July 2022
I forgot to send this message out last week after our last class.
Busy with family gathering at the weekend then looking after grandchildren for the past few days. Resting now!
Although numbers were low we managed a great evening - with cupcakes!
We danced Mayfair Quickstep, Gypsy Swing, Square Tango, Balmoral Blues, Waltz Catherine, Sally Ann CCC, Melody Foxtrot and Saunter Together before cuppa time then the rest of the evening our dancers preferred to spend time on our Jive and Tango Routines.
It was quite a sad because of numbers but a rewarding last session before our holiday break.
Enjoy yourself with whatever you are doing this summer and see you in September. Remember to pass the word.
