2017 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY (ICAT 2017)

We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Seventh International Conference on Architectural Technology (ICAT 2017) which will be held from the 14th to the 16th December 2017 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The ICAT Conference provides a platform for researchers and academics, as well as practising professionals, from all over the world to present their research and cutting edge industry activities in Architectural Technology.

CONFERENCE THEME: ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY AT THE INTERFACES

Change is constant in the modern Construction Industry: challenges grow, roles diversify, education transforms, technologies proliferate, innovations emerge and collaboration increases. Architectural technology is at the core of the industry where the interplay of many factors creates varied interfaces. Academics and professionals associated with the discipline are ideally placed to lead as we strive to enhance the design, delivery and performance of buildings and the industry at large. This conference will be a vehicle to disseminate research, education and practice at these interfaces.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The conference invites abstracts and papers for the following sub-themes:

Professional Practice: Role(s) of the architectural technologist, Industry challenges, CPD, Professional practice diversity and skills (new).

Sustainable and Environmental Design: Life-cycle analysis, Selection of materials, Components and assembly, Sustainable design and development, Technical performance, Innovation.

Improvement of Existing Buildings: Retrofit, Influence of Building labelling, Energy certification, Green certifications, Influence over building market.

Building Performance and Techniques: Building Information Modelling, Collaborative working, Buildability and innovation, Design management, Designing for performance and production.

Theory, Practice and Research: Integrated health and safety, Integration of fabric, Structures and services, Alternative procurement and project control strategies, Development of new concepts, Techniques and strategies.

Teaching and Education: Design pedagogy, Innovative models, Learning environments and studios, Learning theory, History and philosophy, Architectural Technology promotion.

Notification of acceptance of abstracts: 10/04/17

Paper Submission Deadline: 23/06/17

Notification of acceptance of papers 28/07/17

Submission of final papers deadline 06/10/17
