A celebration of Cuban music and dance with Sidney Weaverling, Nov 3-4, 2018

Sidney Weaverling, of San Francisco's Rueda con Ritmo, will be coming to Arcata Nov 3-4, for a weekend of workshops in Rueda de Casino and Cuban dance. See attached flyer. This will be the first time that Arcata has hosted an entire weekend event devoted to popular Cuban dance and Rueda de Casino in particular. Sidney is a gifted dancer and highly sought-after instructor with over 20 years of experience teaching this style of dance. Many of us were very inspired by her classes at the First Humboldt Latin Dance Festival this April. She and her partner Ryan Mead organize several Cuba dance study trips each year and teach at major Cuban dance festivals throughout the U.S.
Full passes are available in advance for $70 or you may obtain a Saturday only pass $45. Prices at the door will be $80 and $50.
Team practicum is by invitation only and adds $10 to your full pass.

Saturday afternoon
12:30-1:30 Warm-up workout (zumba-format class with salsa, son, mambo, pilon, cha-cha, reggaton, ...)
1:40-2:40 Ease into rueda (beg)
2:50-3:50 Casino triples (beg/int, one lead and two follows)
4:00-5:00 Rhythm and musicality (all levels)

6-7pm Rueda By the Bay in Eureka (open to all, weather permitting)

9-11pm Party at the Raks with non-alcoholic refreshments and snacks
11pm-1am Griffin invasion (DJ will play cuban music for us, please do patronize the bar)
Sunday
10:00-11:00 TBD: more casino triples (int) or salsa suelta (individuals, int)
11:10-12:10 Casino y rueda contratiempo (int)
