The recent refugee crisis in Europe has triggered a variety of uncoordinated policy reactions across European countries. These policies may have several intended and unintended consequences, which are not well understood and have not yet been the focus of sufficient research.

This project, funded by the Nuffield Foundation, is dedicated to investigate the impact of asylum policies in European states on refugee flows and their subsequent experience in host countries. Our research design aims at providing a broader perspective by explicitly accounting for the heterogeneous backgrounds of those seeking protection in Europe.
