Course: AP Calculus AB
Text: Calculus of a Single Variable, Seventh Edition; Houghton Mifflin; Ron Larson, Robert P. Hostetler, Bruce H. Edwards, David E. Heyd
Learning Outcomes: Students will be prepared to successfully complete the Calculus AB Advanced Placement Test in May. All topics recommended for inclusion in the AP Calculus AB curriculum by The College Board will be covered. These topics include the following:
Grading Scale: 90-100%.............................................A

Formative: 10% of grade
Practice (Homework) is to be completed daily.
Summative: 90% of grade
First Semester - 4 Cumulative Exams will be given throughout the semester. The last exam will be taken during the Final Exam period in December.
Second Semester - 4 Cumulative Exams will be given throughout the semester, one of which will be a practice AP Exam and another which will be an AP review spanning 6 weeks.
Retake Policy - Any student who scores below 70% on cumulative exams 1-3, 5 and/or 6 will have an opportunity to retake specific questions from the exam once the following two tiers of remediation have been met. Students will be expected to obtain additional instruction (from your teacher or from Mr. Watson before school in Room 303), and show mastery of specific formative assignments assigned by your teacher for an opportunity to reassess. The max score a student can receive back is 70% for that exam.
For each Essential Standard there will be multiple summative quizzes. Any student who scores below 80% on a quiz will have an opportunity to retake specific questions from the quiz once the following two tiers of remediation have been met. Academic Honesty: It is expected that all the materials submitted for this course are the actual work of the individual whose name appears on the materials. Violations of academic honesty include but are not limited to cheating, plagiarism, and receiving help on an exam/quiz. A student found guilty of academic dishonesty is subject to failure for the assignment in question or failure of the course.
Classroom Responsibilities:
2. You will be given an assigned seat. From time to time, I may make changes.
3. Do not bring any food, soda, coffee into the classroom (this includes candy). Water is the only drink allowed.
4. For all test/quiz days you will place all of your technology in your backpack and place your backpack at the front of the classroom (I will instruct you as to whether you will need your graphing calculator). If you finish the test/quiz before the end of the class period, you may trade in your test/quiz for something to read from your backpack (no technology).
5. You are entitled to use the hall pass once a semester. This includes a trip to your locker, to the restroom, or to fill up your water bottle. This restriction does not apply to trips to the nurse’s office.
6. You are responsible for making sure that your grades I enter into Infinite Campus are accurate.
7. If you have a pre-planned absence, you must have your daily work completed on the day of your return, See me ahead of time for your assignment.
8. If you have an unplanned, excused absence for one day, you are responsible for the daily work on the day following your return. If the day you miss is a review day you will be expected to take the test/quiz with the rest of the class. If the day you miss is the actual test/quiz day you will be expected to take the test/quiz the next morning before school with me in Room 303.
