Alhama de Granada
Alhama is an enclave which has been importantly placed in the history since Roman times. It went through a rich period during the Arab times, this is the reason why there are various emblematic buildings with an important historical and artistic value. Some of these buildings are: the Church of Saint Mary of La Encarnacion, the Jail, the Queen’s Hospital, the Church of Del Carmen, the Inquisition House, the Castle, etc...
Alhama de Granada is located in the southwestern part of the Granada province and 59 km from Granada city. The beautiful beaches of Torre Del Mar are only 49 km away from the Apartaments, Malaga city is only 79 km from Alhama de Granada. The location is perfect for everyone who likes visiting the mountains, the beach and the countryside, everything is situated just about an hour from the cities of Malaga and Granada.
Finally it is worth mentioning that its name is derived from the Arabic word “Al-Hama” which means hot water. The name refers to the thermal springs areas. During the Roman times these thermal springs were used for medicinal purposes. The Arabs considered it as a perfect place for rest.
One of the most impressive places of Alhama is the unique landscape of the Cliffs (famous for the houses standing on the edge of the cliffs “los Tajos“). It was declared “Natural Monument“ by the Andalusian Ministry of Environment.
