연구생 지도 철학

저희 연구실에서는 화요일  9시에 랩미팅과 랩세미나를 진행합니다. 랩미팅에서는 실험 계획 등을 논의하고 공유하며, 랩세미나에서는 연구분야의 최신 논문을 발표하고 토의합니다. 또한 월요일마다 연구원들은 Weekly progress report를 제출합니다. Progress report에서는 한주간에 있었던 그간 연구 진행 사항들 (예, 논문읽기, 논문쓰기, 실험계획)을 자율적으로 이메일로 통해 보고하고 검토받게 됩니다. 저는 연구실 연구생들에게 최대한 자율적으로 연구를 진행할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다. 이는 자발적인 연구 의욕과 의지로 연구를 주체적으로 주도할 역량이 중요하다고 생각하기 때문입니다. 물런 실험 계획, 데이터 분석이나 논문 피드백과 같이 저의 도움이 필요할 때에는 최대한 자세하고 성실하게 조언을 드리고 있습니다. 저는 연구원들이 연구실 생활을 통하여 미래에 자기주도적인 생태학자(autonomous ecologists) 로 성장해갈 수 있도록 최대한 지원을 하고 있습니다. 

Advising Philosophy

In our lab, there are lab meeting and lab seminar in every Tuesday at 9 am. In lab meeting, I share and discuss about research plans and schedules with lab members, and in lab seminar, a member present about a cutting-edge article in our field of study and we discuss about it together afterward. In addition, every Monday, lab members are supposed to send me a weekly progress report via email. In the progress report, members volunteer to report  recent research progress including article reading, manuscript writing, and research planning in the previous week. I always encourage lab members to pursue and spearhead their research activities autonomously as possible as they can. I believe it is important to develop personal strength as autonomous mind under my supervision. Of course, whenever lab members requires my helps such as data analysis, manuscript writing feedback, and research planning, I always be there to advise them. I support lab members to become  autonomous ecologists in future through their lab life. 

Lab atmosphere

우리 연구실은 서로 상호 존중에 기반한 상생연구협력체로서, 힘든 일이나 고비가 있을 때마다 서로 돕고 의지하면서 따뜻한 공동체를 만들려고 노력하고 있습니다.

Our lab is research-oriented cooperative community based on respects to each other. Whenever there is any hardship, we help to each other and we are trying to create a warmful community. Regarding the relationship between a supervisor and students, please refer to the following testimony from a previous student mentee.

> A superviosr always accepts greeting well and tries to make comfortable conversation with a student.

> The feedback between a student and a supervisor are two-way directions and supervisor regnoizes gaps between generations.

> A supervisor don't leave a student alone or intervene in a student's affair heavily - a supervisor tries to find the best solutions together harmoniously.

> A supervisor provides professional knowledge and sources whenever a student is needed.

> A supervisor guides a student's research procedure and know-hows in a laboratory, a greenshouse, or fields. A student can develop professional skills and capability by performing several ecological tasks.
