In addition to teaching and coaching, I have also been an advisor to students (grades 9-12). Teaching, coaching and advising students has afforded me the experience of working with the whole student.
As Director of Soccer at Urban I built a robust soccer program. From offseason training, to retention and hiring of all coaches, to developing an alumni connection and starting a yearly alumni/student soccer game, I created a genuine soccer culture.
"You have been an incredible mentor to me, whether on the soccer field or in the classroom. I've always admired you as a coach, a teacher and as a friend."
Former student-athlete
"It's a true credit to you that you have almost single-handedly turned Urban into a Bay area Girls Soccer powerhouse. But on a more personal level, I know the coach is good when the players look forward to as many practice sessions as possible."
Former parent
"Collectively, your team plays for each other and it shows on the pitch. It's obvious you have set a standard for them and they have bought in."
Opposing coach
"You taught the team how to play soccer; most important, you showed them the value of heart. They learned from you and had lots of heart. It’s relatively easy to teach skills, but it is very difficult to teach inner strength and leadership. The team played as one because they shared one heart and all rose to play over their heads when necessary. "
