WELCOME TO ANTON
WELCOME TO ANTON
Modern Artist Anton, creatively explores the many artistic avenues life has to offer. Aggressively working on new paintings almost daily, the artist expresses that when creating, his themes instinctively revolve around striving through adversities no matter how challenging. "My intentions are to provoke and jolt the viewers thinking by challenging them visually. We are much stronger, much smarter and more powerful than we have been led to believe."
Addictively drawn toward colors and shapes, Anton began nurturing his artistic ability at an early age. Painting, drawing, coloring and sketching were a few of the many art forms in which the artist showed natural talent; a gift some would say. Winning coloring competitions and acquiring small drawing jobs instinctively inspired the young artist to continue his pursuit in the world of art. With such a thirst to create a unique style of his own after becoming bored with conventional looks in art, the artist begin studying unconventional artists, abstract, primitive and African art. Soon after a style evolved and Anton has nurtured this empowering vision since.
The artist quotes, "I am traveling my souls path. I create fearlessly and spontaneously. My spirit is adventurous, free of boundaries and limitations caused by rules and regulations, whatever they may be or whatever I was told to believe. When creating, I have no idea of what I'm going to do or in which direction I will go. This means I have no idea of what the outcome will be. I don't think about such things; I just create. This organic approach is truly unique, refreshing and inspiring. I am always curious of what the universe will create through me instinctively. I then begin to study this natural birth. As time evolves, like a child fresh out the womb, the painting begins to reveal a personality that articulates its own voice and reason with each viewer. From this voice emerges an identity, and with the viewer a personal conversation. I truly believe the artist's role is that of a messenger and healer, which means my soulful spirit will channel what I create."
For the past 10 years, located in Mount Vernon, NY, Anton has been The Milestone's Schools head art teacher. The artist created a curriculum called "Art No Boundaries," which shows students a world of art beyond realism, capturing and nurturing their innate creativity and allowing their imagination to take flight. The curriculum's mission is to empower by taking students outside the norm, beyond the limits, showing them another way of pursuing art. By encouraging them to explore their imaginations and allowing them freedom to think "Outside The Box," they are creating their own unique style which if nurtured can become a "Voice" in whatever they decide to pursue in life. Art No Boundaries focus is to get the individual to realize their own potential and power, personal greatness, uniqueness, and the importance of independent thinking accompanied with action. ACTIVIST
A person who campaigns to bring about Political or Social Change.
LIBERTY SERIES
The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, and or political views. Freedom from captivity or control. The ability to go where you want, do what you want and say what you want. To act following his or her own will. The power to do as one pleases. Free from physical restraint, arbitrary and or despotic control. The positive enjoyment of various social, political, and or economic rights and privileges...Give Me Liberty! Paintings in this series will display the word LIBERTY!
WANTED SERIES
This series acknowledges "Runaway Slave Reward Posters" that were created to inform slave masters and slave catchers of escaped slaves. Detailed in description, the posters described the physical attributes of the slave and what plantation he and or she escaped.
THE DUALITY OF MAN AND WOMAN SERIES
This series acknowledges the complexities of balancing male and female
relations which are essential for the survival of the human race. The art
works created in this series will display a face shared by both sexes.
THIRD EYE SERIES
The Third Eye also known as the inner eye is located around the middle of the forehead, slightly above the junction of the eyebrows. It's a mystical and esoteric concept referring to a speculative invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight. In certain dharmic spiritual traditions such as Hinduism, the third eye refers to the ajna or brow chakra. In Theosophy it is related to the pineal gland. The third eye refers to the gate that leads to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In New Age spirituality, the third eye often symbolizes a state of enlightenment or the evocation of mental images having deeply personal spiritual or psychological significance. The third eye is often associated with religious visions, clairvoyance, the ability to observe chakras and auras, precognition, and out-of-body experiences. People who are claimed to have the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES SERIES
The upright figures in this ongoing 25 year series represent a people in transition, in search of truth, honesty, freedom, a homeland. Which paths should be taken, and in which direction should we navigate during this journey we call Life? Where do we belong, where will we end up, and how will we survive? Strength, Power, and Support, is what these figures represent. Worldwide Warriors of Peace, Soldiers of Righteousness, Seekers of Truth, and Messengers Eradicating Ignorance, Racism, Hunger and Poverty. Most Powerful We Are...When Together We Think and United We Stand as a Race called "Hue-Man." Remember...Gathered We're Strong - Divided We Perish...
CORRUGATED FIBERBOARD
I use this as a medium to paint on because of its rugged durability and texture, but most importantly because of it's natural fiber brown color which hasn't been dyed and or bleached, stripping it of it's nutrients and organic properties. Unlike white surfaces like canvas and papers, when painting on fiberboard, you experience a warm muted earthy undertone hue to applied colors. The thicker the application of color, the less muted colors appear. Fiberboard is biodegradable which means it can be composted and recycled effectively, and can also be acquired free.
