Title: Type decomposition in NIP finite diagrams and its applications

Abstract: We construct a decomposition of type over a $D$-saturated model, where $D$ is a dependent finite diagram. We show how to use it in order to obtain recounting of types and the proof of the generic pair conjecture. Joint work with S. Shelah and I. Kaplan.

Title: Tao's Concept of Metastability as a Medium Connecting Disparate Areas of Mathematics

Abstract: The concept of metastable convergence was introduced by Terry Tao as a tool for his 2008 ergodic theorem. It turns out that this concept is intimately related to ideas that had been used by logicians for decades. Moreover, it arises naturally in many other areas of mathematics, and it connects different subareas of logic in unexpected ways. Note: This is a reprise of seminars given in Firenze and in late February.
