    • Living and Working in Antarctica—This unit describes some of the health issues encountered by scientists and other workers who stay in Antarctica for long periods of time. Issues include physical fitness as well as social and mental health issues that workers face. For example, students are asked to design an indoor gym or fitness center to keep workers healthy.

    • Living and Working in Antarctica Teacher

      • One activity asks students to calculate the calorie requirements for males and females living and working in Antarctica. They then plan appropriate menus.

      • There is an experiment that students can conduct using hydroponics as a way of growing fresh produce.

      • There are ideas for physical and social/mental health issues and solutions for those living and working in Antarctica.
