A book fragment containing proclamations for September 1783 to October 1786 and March until July 1787 is available at Archion.de. It was filmed in the Landeskirchliches Archiv in Berlin. The proclamation records provide more information than is given in the Berlin Garnison marriage records that can be found on Ancestry.com. In the proclamation record the birthplace of the bride and groom usually are given, as well as their ages. The father of the bride is also usually provided. If the groom has been previously married, this information may also be listed. Note: The marriage entry given on Ancestry.com may have a page number listed. This is the page number as listed in the Proklamation Book. See the example below for Ferdinand Denk. [Page number listed is 269]. If you go to page 269 in the Proclamation book you will find that Ferdinand Denk is from Austria. He is 43 years old, Catholic, a widower. He had no children with his previous wife. Christiana Dorothea Schönfeldt is from Gortz bei Brandenburg, 22 years old, Lutheran, three years in Berlin, her parents are deceased.
