Summer Project
In a summer project, I would give you some reading assignments and ask you to give presentations on some of what you read. I would help you in understanding the parts you get stuck in. A goal for the project will be decided in advance. It would be either an important theorem or a non-trivial computational exercise. At the end of the project, you would need to write a report about it along with the necessary prerequisites.
Topics available
Topics available
I can supervise a summer project in the following fields (topics):
- Algebraic Geometry (algebraic curves, abelian varieties, Riemann surfaces, elliptic curves etc. )
- Computational Commutative Algebra
- Homological Algebra
- Algebraic Topology (homotopy theory, cohomology, ...)
- Differential Geometry (deRham cohomology )
How to Apply
How to Apply
To apply for a summer project, please send me the following:
- A brief resume mentioning your academic record from standard 12 onwards and a list of advanced courses (core and elective) in mathematics that you have taken.
- A short write-up (about 200 to 500 words) about your background and interest in the field/topic you choose or any information in support of your application (e.g. any research paper or advanced book that you have read).
- Name, Affiliation, Designation, Contact address (both e-mail and physical address) and contact phone no. of a referee who would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for you. He/she should be someone with whom you have interacted academically.
- Period of availability (the dates between which you would like to come).
Preferably, send these via e-mail or you may also send by post if you prefer. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
