Glad I did Science Fair

My experience from participating in Science Fair was very valuable. I was able to take a prompt that I was curious about, and expand it to a complete project. I did a project with two of my fellow peers, and this helped increase my communication skills and ability to clearly deliver a message. This practice along with speaking to judges and other students, gave me more confidence in speaking in front of others. Research I had to do for my project helped me in finding better sources for accurate information, and how to properly use this information in the project. Despite the obstacles and problems that were faced in the journey, we were all able to put ideas together to solve it. It was all about collaboration and mutual effort amongst the entire team. Not only did I find out more about the topic I had interest in, but I also got to practice important skills for any situation. Mrs. Jones was an immense help in this entire process, as she answered any questions my group and I had. I'm very grateful for the things I learned having been in Science Fair, and I hope that others can join to experience it.

I am incredibly grateful to the Science Fair program for providing me so many wonderful opportunities... When I needed an internship, I emailed a professor who had answered some questions for my project. Within a day, she had referred me to her colleagues in the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Lab. Eventually, I was hired and have been working there for almost a year now... All because of the lucky connection I made through Science Fair. After completing my project designing modular solar panels, I realized my passion for renewable energy. Next year, I will attend the University of Michigan studying electrical engineering under the College's "Engineering Scholarship of Honor." I hope to join their world-class research in power and renewable systems. Without science fair, I wouldn't have found my direction; I wouldn't have my job at EFDL; and I wouldn't be the person I am today.
