Trying to look into the future has been part of a life long passion of mine that also proved useful in my professional career as a manager, author, editor, speaker, professor, and researcher. I have spent thousands of hours surfing the web searching and looking at sites focused on the future and the American Dream and picking the best ones and bookmarking them for personal use. I was looking for the 'good' sites - ones that contain useful information; have been around for a while; are high quality, and are regularly updated. Many sites on the web that I have weeded out were simply fronts for political entities ranting about problems and not providing any useful insights into the future of America and the world. I recently decided to put the best of the links I found on this web site to save others from having to spend a lot of their time repeating the same process I had to go through. I hope some of you find this site useful and it's my intention to keep improving it over time.

Peter Groen is a retired government executive, health informatics specialist, author, speaker, independent consultant, and former instructor and researcher at at the University of South Carolina and Shepherd University in West Virginia. He developed and managed the Collaboration, Open Solutions, and Innovation (COSI) Technology & Solutions web site and associated portals, before phasing them out as he slowly retired from active life. He helped found several small startup companies and has served on the board of directors for several public and private sector organizations. He also is the founder and Editor of the online Summerton S.C. Weekly News.

In the 1990's, President Clinton's economic policies were designed in part to generate budget surpluses that could pay down the deficit and save Social Security and Medicare. The deficit reduction measures turned what was then the largest deficit in U.S. history into a budget surplus. Then came the administration of President George W. Bush. "The nation took leave of its fiscal senses, and simply stopped paying for anything" - except for huge tax cuts skewed toward the rich.
