ALA Cristina Presenting Spanish Guitarist Mark Barnwell

I am very thankful to the latest communication technology that we have now days because is allowing me to work together with artists from around the globe. I am always looking for new Spanish music artists and this time I had the opportunity to get in touched with Spanish Guitarist Mark Barnwell based in South West of England, I was impress with his music that I thought that my Bay Area Audience – 91.5 FM KKUP should have the chance to hear his music.

Now, let me introduce you the Guitarist Mark Barnwell with over 30 years of experience of live performances, his repertoire combines Latin, contemporary and Flamenco guitar.

Mark's affinity with the guitar began at the tender age of 6. His early classical training resulted in a number of junior solo and group performances. By the age of 15, Mark was playing live with his first rock band and throughout the 80s and 90s, his experiences as lead guitarist expanded considerably with regular live performances in different styles (blues, country, funk, rock and disco).

Mark's passion for Flamenco grew upon meeting Jon Salfield, a Flamenco virtuoso from South West Cornwall, who became his teacher.

Mark has played both solo and with other artists at numerous venues throughout the UK and across the globe (including France, Australia, Germany and Greece) combining his love of music and travel.

His repertoire has its roots in romantic, Spanish guitar and traditional Flamenco music, often spiced with Arabic and Latin sounds. As well as a performing artist, Mark also writes his own music, often collaborating with other musicians, and drawing on his love of Flamenco, Latin and Arabic styles of music for inspiration. His musical influences include Incendio, Strunz and Farah, Jesse Cook - "Exotic World Fusion" would certainly be a good phrase to describe his most recent album of original material, "Ojos de la Tierra".

Collaborating and creating music with other musicians is something Mark is also very passionate about. Sometimes local and sometimes thousands of miles away, Mark collaborated with many different musicians on "Ojos de la Tierra" to create a dynamic journey of world fusion. As well as Mark's guitar throughout, Fretless Bass, Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano, Drums, Latin percussion and Middle Eastern percussion and Accordion can be heard on various tracks.

During the cold UK winter, before the busy gig season starts, Mark is busy working on a new album, which will feature some very exciting Trans-Atlantic collaborations - one of those being with California based guitar virtuoso Jim Stubblefield from the band Incendio.

I am preparing one hour show to introduce the musical trajectory of Spanish guitarist Mark Barnwell on March 24, 2015. Also, I will be presenting his most recent album of original material, "Ojos de la Tierra". It gives me a great satisfaction to work with musicians from around the globe and to know that some people around the world appreciate the diversity of the Hispanic music and cultures.
