Feelings about Paco de Lucia

This is an email that I have received from Eddie Diaz Director of the Flamenco Society in San Jose and he is sharing the feelings of José Fernández Torres “TOMATITO” about Paco de Lucia.

I would like to email you what Tomatito said to me about his feelings about Paco de Lucia’s death:

"...I cannot find words to express the the feeling of sadness overwhelming me from the moment I heard this morning that Paco passed away. I know these words are shared by all the artists and fans of flamenco, not only in Spain but all over the world.

Paco´s work has dignified flamenco art and he has made the guitar becoming an instrument of universal understanding. Thanks to his genius and committment, myself and many other interpreters have been able to share our music, our singing and our dance with audiences across the globe.

A giant has gone, an enormous musician and enormous person. Paco was all sensitivity and humility. We have lost the master of the guitar, to whom I personally owe a lot and whose absence will walk with me forever..."
