I wrote this paper in the fall of 2018, describing my philosophy of education. This paper highlights my beliefs about students and a teachers role in the classroom. It also describes how I intend to build community in my future classroom and what I believe to me the most important elements in education.
The following video highlights key strategies and activities I used during my student teaching in a 5th grade classroom. Throughout the video, I show the strategies used in the class while also narrating what I am doing, the student responses and how the strategy I use is a best practice.

- The following introduction to government unit plan was created during the spring of 2018. It is comprised of three sections: desired results, evidence and learning plan. Some of the resources in the unit plan are as follows: a unit calendar, state standard alignments, a pre-assessment, a summative assessment, a student self-evaluation, a culminating project, ten formative assessments with examples and fifteen learning activates with links to examples and materials. This unit plan also provides a list of ways to differentiate each activity and a vocabulary list complete with definitions and corresponding tier levels.
- I wrote this paper in the spring of 2018 as a verification of professional development attendance. This paper highlights two of the professional development opportunities I participated in that semester. The first event was a webinar titled Planning for All Learners. This collaborative and interactive webinar focused on strategies to implement in the classroom to promote inclusion and accessibility. The second event was hosted by a company called DONKA, which provides technological assistance to those with disabilities. During this workshop, I was taught how to use ten different technological devices and programs and was able to spend time learning through hands on experience.
- The above document is a professional development verification for my attendance at the 2017 Illinois Council for Exceptional Children Fall Convention. During this all day convention, I heard from a variety of speakers and attended numerous sessions which ranged in subject matter from discussing trauma informed schools to inclusion of Blind students in the general education classroom. I was able to hear and learn from principals, teachers, parents and even students themselves.
- I wrote this research paper in the fall of 2017 as a way to explore different types of assistive technology available to students with learning disabilities and to be knowledgeable about these types of devices in the event that I teach a student who may require the use of them. Through this paper I explore the issue of why students with learning disabilities may need assistive technology, the current research and devices on the market, and lastly how this knowledge impacts my own beliefs about teaching and learning.
