Congratulations to the 2025 recipients of the Lillian Woods Scholarships: Katie Harvell, Jaimie Aguirre, and Courtney King. We wish them success to their educational pursuits.
Our newest project is Comfort for Children in Crisis, which is a District Eight wide project. We met with the fire associations in our county to determine the number of annual events involving children and what they would want to have to give to the children. The number one item was a stuffed toy. We have distributed more than 900 stuffies/blankets to 19 rural fire departments in our county.
TUGS+ is the longest running project for Altrusa International of Fayetteville, Arkansas. It started in 1992. Below are just some of the pictures for this project. It has benefitted several organizations through the years. The most recent recipient is 7hill Homeless Center.
Our 2026 TUGS+ delivery included 18 cans of vienna sausages, 3 cans of soup, 2 cans of tuna, 1 box of saltines, 1 can of chili, 1 mac & cheese box, 1 protein bowl, 4 paper towel rolls, 4 bath towels, 32 wash cloths, 2 hand towels, 5 shampoo bottles, 3 soap bars, 10 body wash bottles, 5 packets of wipes, 1 pair of boots, 2 tarps, 2 tents, 1 sleeping bag, 1 winter coat, 1 woman’s jacket, 3 backpacks, 2 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of women’s shoes, 20 hand warmers, 14 pairs of men’s briefs, 33 pairs of men’s socks, 6 pairs of ankle socks, 5 pairs of women’s socks, 6 women’s panties, 6 men’s warm up sets, 11 hats, 10 pairs of kids socks, 2 pairs of gloves, 8 kids hats, 2 pairs of kids mittens, 6 five-count women’s razors, and 6 ten-count men’s razors.

As part of our long-running TUGS+ (T-shirts, Underwear, Gloves, Socks+) project, we provided warm clothing for Head Start/Early Head Start. Picture shows members holding coats, with scarves, socks, gloves, and other items on the table.
