Welcome to this website which details the stamps issued by New Zealand Mail and its previous companies
On 1 April 1998 the Postal Services Act which had been passed by parliment became law. Part of this act withdrew New Zealand Post's monopoly on the delivery of mail and the issuing of postage stamps. Following this postal deregulation a number of companies were set up to compete with New Zealand Post for mail delivery. One of these companies was Posties Choice New Zealand Ltd. This company was registered as a postal operator with the Ministry of Economic Development on 17 July 1998 and was removed from the register on 20 December 2002.
Stamps At Work Limited was registered as a postal operator on the same day, 20 December 2002 and was removed from the register on 14 June 2004. Many of the stamp designs produce by this company are still in use by New Zealand Mail Ltd. today.
It is unclear what activity was undertaken or the name of any company that may have operated between 14 June 2004 and 24 September 2004.
New Zealand Mail Ltd. registered as a postal operator on 24 September 2004 and has continued operating until the present.
This site has been created for the purpose of illustrating for the benefit of collectors the stamps that have been produced by the companies listed above. While much of the information is not yet able to be obtained it is the intention to add further information to make this site more complete as the information becomes available.
