Michael Larko

Michael graduated from Plum Borough Senior High School in 2007 as a captain, four year varsity letter winner, and four year varsity starter.  He was named 1st Team All-Section three times, 2nd Team All-WPIAL twice, 1st Team All-WPIAL, and PA Finest 40 during his high school career.  He played six years of Junior Olympic volleyball competing at nationals six times for Pittsburgh Elite and Renaissance volleyball clubs.  His best finish was T-5th in 2007 with a 9-1 record.  After high school, Michael attended Duquesne University where he played on the men's club volleyball team for two years.  During his sophomore year, the Dukes were nationally ranked in the Top 20.  Michael also served as club president, treasurer, and captain.  

Once he graduated from high school, Michael stepped over to the bench for Plum's volleyball teams.  He became the boy's varsity assistant coach and served that position from 2008 to 2011 as well as head coaching the junior varsity team in 2009. In 2012, he moved up to be head coach, a position in which he held for three seasons.  In 2008, Michael became varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach for the Plum girl's team.  He remained in that position for the 2009 season as well.  In 2011, he was hired to become Burrell's girl's volleyball varsity head coach.  He was the Bucs head coach for two seasons.  Michael was the Plum girl's varsity head coach for the 2013 season.  

Michael also has coaching experience at the Junior Olympic level.  For the 2012-2013 season, he was the 16-Royal head coach, 17's assistant, and 13's coach for Premier Girls Volleyball Club.  From 2010 to 2013, he coached with Pittsburgh Volleyball Club, a boy's Junior Olympic volleyball club.  He spent seasons with age groups ranging from 15's to 18's serving in various roles for the club.  Michael also spent the 2010 summer season coaching in the Pittsburgh Elite guy's volleyball club where he was the head coach for the 17-2's.  In the fall of 2013, Michael and Scott founded Allegheny Volleyball Club in the hopes of giving every girl, regardless of economic situation, the opportunity to play Junior Olympic volleyball.  

Michael graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education - Mathematics in 2011 and with a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology in 2012.  He currently works as a Project Coordinator for Workscape and lives in Shaler with his wife, Chelsey, and dog, Stella.
