ALIVE is a non-profit voluntary organization whose mission is to foster local and family enterprises for increased production and income in poor rural communities. ALIVE believes that human and natural resources needed to do this exist in rural communities, which need to be reexamined from a new perspective for full utilization of the potentials. On this basis ALIVE works as partners and equal participant with these communities and with public and private institutions that serve them.
ALIVE researches powerful ideas and develops them into innovative opportunities to increase productivity. We want to offer impoverished rural families a realistic alternative to either urban flight or further degradation of their environment. We are, therefore, dedicated to creating sustainable, rural enterprises that provide the opportunity to work and prosper.
In doing so, ALIVE promotes interdependence between our partner communities and the modern world. We want rural communities to become competitive through ventures founded on excellent performance, good management and appropriate high technology.
ALIVE believes that the distress and underprivileged people of the society can change their situation/fortune by themselves if scopes and opportunities are created for them for changing their state through providing various development and rehabilitation activities.
Underprivileged and disadvantaged people especially women and children of both urban and rural areas.
To organize the target women into groups towards building their own organizational base to develop their individual and collective capacity.
To rehabilitate the disabled through appropriate support and services.
To help the disadvantaged children to improve their quality of life.
To provide primary health services to the women and children of respective target families.
To provide technical and credit support to the poor and poorest group members for undertaking and operating income-generating activities.
To provide other support and services to the target people.
To make illiterate people literate through operating non-formal and formal education.
To response towards the distressed people caused by natural disasters.
To improve the health and hygienic condition using safe water and latrine .
To protect the environmental situation and ecological balance.
To improve the Agricultural/Livestock / Fisheries / Vegetable production through re-generation agriculture method.
To Aware people on drug-abasement and anti trafficking of women and children.

ALIVE is governed and managed by a Board of Directors composed of nine members. The members belong to various, development organization and institutions bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise. The board is responsible to operate the total activities and administer the functions through the Executive Director. ALIVE has a General Committee of the organization is comprised of 33 members, and it is the principal authority of the organization. The GC meets at least once a year. The board members are:
The total activities of the organization are managed by a number of dedicated professionals headed by the Executive Director. The hierarchy is strictly maintained according to the organogram of the organization. The plan of activities is implemented according to the guideline of the organization through the field personnel and assures the best quality of outputs. The financial transactions are maintained following the international accounting standards and rules of the government of Bangladesh. Annual audit is conducted at the close of every financial year by the reputed audit firm.
All personnel are selected through competitive test. The recruitment process is conducted by a selection board. Women are considered equally in all position and in some cases women are mostly considered.
The internal audit team periodically checks the financial transactions and justifies the utilization of fund and report to the Executive Director. The accounts and finance personnel control the fund utilization according to the budget and physical output. The external audit team of registered audit firm usually checks the books of accounts and records and report to the CEO.
The input and output is continuously monitored by the program personnel and evaluated according to the result oriented monitoring indicators (ROMI). The output is also evaluated by the sponsors according to their guidelines.
The target beneficiaries are women, children, poor student, and the community of vulnerable section of the rural and urban area. The women section is selected considering their vulnerability in the rural and urban community. The policy of the organization is to address the vulnerable issues in the community where the women and children are given top priority in getting the service of the organization. Women are also selected as the team member of the organization.
ALIVE has expanded its development activities both in the rural and urban areas. We covered 2 Upazilas-Jhenidah Sadar, & Sailakupa upazila of Jhenidah district. Rural villages are typically remote and backward. Urban communities are mainly slums and slum like area.
In the program villages, ALIVE has been implementing various project and programs, organized groups with vulnerable and underprivileged people, reaching supports and services to the group members.
