Alice White is a Melbourne poet who has been widely involved in the local poetry scene and a featured reader in a number of venues including Passionate Tongues, Inspyr, St Kilda Music & Poetry Inc and the Melbourne Poets Union.
Alice spoke on two panels for the 2008 Emerging Writers' Festival and performed a piece in collaboration with musician Cate Ahrendt at the festival's Scrabble event at BMW Edge Federation Square. As part of the 2009 Emerging Writers' Festival she interviewed multi award winning poet Nathan Shepherdson about his book what marian drew never told me about light. She has served on the MPU Committee co-editing the chapbook Ur-burbia and has assisted with the St Kilda Music & Poetry Inc. monthly events. She has also given workshops with the Society of Women Authors Victoria Inc and judged their 2008 Christmas competition. In July 2009 Alice was interviewed on community radio about her writing. She has been published in a range of publications including Blue Dog, Poetry Monash, Poetrix, The Paradise Anthology, MPU chap books, The Mozzie and Cordite and her poem Lilac has been broadcast on Triple J. 'Heartstricken' a book she co-wrote with Nick Hamer-Smith was published by Ginninderra Press in 2001.
Since November 2009 Alice has been working on a children's novel.
