Google Maps are great but they are really handy when you can view them on your phone as you are out and about, this is a quick guide to show you how to do that.
Step 1:
- Create a Google account, if you use Gmail (or other Google tools like Docs) you already have one, if you do not have one, create one here:

Step 2:
- From my Guides and Maps page, choose the Map(s) you will need or want to have on your mobile. Click on the links to access the Google Map itself. Once you are on the Map you want, click on the Save to My Maps link.
UPDATE: Google just changed (June 2011) their wording from "Save to My Maps" to "SAVE TO MY PLACES" - this has no impact on this guide or how you can use My Maps on your smartphone.
Next you need to go to your smartphone, choose the type and click on the one you have for the next step:
