The implementation of a sustainable and efficient electric transportation network requires addressing multiple concerns such as: limited driving range and battery charging/discharging time. Nowadays, electric buses can travel up to 200KM on a full charge and the charging time varies depending on the technology from a couple of minutes (with fast-charging stations rated at 450 kWh) to hours (with slow-charging stations rated at 30 kWh). In order to address these limitations, we plan to use multiple AI technologies to optimize critical components for the electrification of the public bus transportation system.

Long Reach Passive Optical Network (LR-PON) is an effective solution for delivering broadband access to customers within a given geographical area. A typical LR-PON architecture usually considers two main aspects: connecting metro core nodes (or central offices) to local exchanges, and local exchanges to customers. In particular, Alejandro Arbelaez’s work is focused in the design of mathematical models and optimization aspects in the deployment of the optical network.

This project aims to apply learning-based methodologies to solve Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs). In this project, I was involved in the application of Machine Learning algorithms to solve CSPs. I was also involved in the design and implementation of a new parallel solver for the Satisfiability problem (SAT).

The goal of this project is to integrate Gecode as the Mozart-Oz constraint services provider namely, to replace Mozart-Oz constraint layer with Gecode and take advantage of its advanced features like batch recomputation.
