Resources for IPV research

Here are some basic resources for conducting research on Violence Against Women:

  • WHO's 2005 guidelines are a must-read before conducting any fieldwork. It contains definitions, detailed protocols for enumerator training and data collection, as well as the main questionnaires used around the world since 2005.

  • IPA's guidelines for researchers and research staff has a fantastic checklist for the design of the study, piloting and training, survey administration, and data storage.

  • Lori Heise's Ecological Model of Violence Against Women is a well known conceptual framework in social sciences. It is a great resource to bridge the gap between economics and other disciplines in the understanding of intimate partner violence.
