“Life is like riding a bicycle. In order to keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

When it all started...
I often wonder how my life would have unfolded if my parents would have got me a motorbike, as requested, when I turned 14. "It's too dangerous, we will get you a very nice bicycle instead...". My twin brother Andrea shared the same destiny, of course. We did not insist too much, although we very disappointed.
Within 14 months from that day I owned already two bicycles. The first one was a carbon fiber mountain bike. I did not have any clue about bicycles and materials when I went to the bike store: I just picked the most expensive bike in the shop, almost as expensive as a motorbike, to punish my parents for their decision (I could never forget the face of my dad when he realized how expensive a bicycle could be... and my brother chose the same model, of course). Shortly afterwards, as I started to enjoy fast cycling, I got a beautiful aluminum race bike. My relationship with sports was set up... and I still thank my parents.
Triathlon is a sport that involves three consecutive endurance disciplines: first swimming, then cycling and finally running. Usually the distances are 1.5km, 40km and 10km respectively. I was ok at cycling and running, but unfortunately terrible at swimming.
