Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT PRACTICES-

Does my child need to buy equipment?

No, our club has many bows and arrows that archers can use. It is best to purchase an archery glove as their fingers may get really sore.

Is there a fee for using club equipment?

No, we supply and service our own equipment. We will also transport our own equipment to tournaments for use as well.

What is registration fee and what does it include?

Registration fee is $80 and includes a t-shirt, tournament entry for archers and covers location fee to practice.

What should my child wear?

Closed toe shoes, long hair pulled back, tighter fitting shirt. Loose strings on shirts or jewelry is a hazard.

When are practices?

We have the range reserved Mondays & Wednesdays and will try to have an occasional practice on Saturdays. Each age group has a specific time and day for practice.

Where are practices held?

Waltonians Archery Range in Toddville

When does season begin/end?

December 1st-end of February but could go through March for State or April for Midwest Tournament or May for Nationals or even June for Worlds.(depends on how well the archer does and wants to go)

What are expectations for archers and parents at practices?

Archers are to remain focused when on the range, no horseplay, conversations to be quiet, no electronics are to be used or visible when on the range.

Parents who are not actively volunteering as assistants need to remain in the waiting area at the range. This is to prevent distractions for archers allowing for better focus. Distractions are a safety issue.

ABOUT TOURNAMENTS-

How many tournaments do we attend?

We typically have a tournament scheduled each weekend between January-February and prefer at least 4 to be eligible for State or further tournaments if they qualify.

When do tournaments begin?

Tournaments begin in December but for first time archers, we typically start them in January. Last tournament of the season (and the most important one) is the end of February.

How long do tournaments last?

“Staging” starts at least 15 minutes prior to shoot time. Once they go out to the range and begin, it is around 45 minutes long. Once complete and equipment is put away, they are free to leave. They are welcome to stay and watch other team mates through other flights or wait for scores but it is not necessary.

When do we need to arrive for tournaments?

Please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to flight time. This allows your child to get comfortable with the environment, find where they need to go, have their equipment checked if needed, use the restroom or even get a snack ahead of time.

How much are tournaments?

Tournament fees vary. Most archers fees are $3 and are covered by the registratiuon fee paid up front. Entry fees for adults are typically $5 per person and $3-$4 for kids.

When are tournament/flight times announced?

Each school can set a different schedule as to when flight times can be selected so we may know of some times sooner than others, as soon as they are available, they will be posted on our website and emailed out. https://sites.google.com/site/alburnettarcheryclub/tournamentrosters

How do we get to tournaments?

All archers will need their own ride to a tournament. Car pool is recommended but not necessary.

What if my child does NOT want to participate in a tournament?

It is not mandatory that your child participates in tournaments, however this is great practice for them and team bonding. It is also included in the registration fee.

Where do we find scores after a tournament?

https://nasptournaments.org/TournamentExplorer.aspx or on our own website- https://sites.google.com/site/alburnettarcheryclub/scores
