Hi there ! 

 Alan Preston here in Mangawhai.

 I  am a CELTA qualified English Language teacher with 16 years experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages.

 I spent 10 years teaching in Japan and 6 years teaching in Queenstown in New Zealand.

 I can speak conversational Japanese and Indonesian. I've also studied Italian, Spanish and Malagasy, the language of Madagascar.

 My English is 'received pronunciation' ( standard New Zealand pronunciation ) .

 I teach 'standard colloquial' pronunciation ( which can be used anywhere in the world ) .

 I have written a lot of resources for learners of English and specialise in teaching: 

 Active language acquisition: 

e.g  "What do you call a sentence which describes the meaning of a word ? " ( = a definition )

 Conventions of colloquial social interaction: 

 e.g.  "Hi ! How's it going?"  "Yeah, not too bad thanks, y'self ? "  

                                                                      vs: "Hello ! How are you?" "I'm fine thank you.  -And you?"

 Language for travellers: telling people your personal life story and conversing about your trip.

 By learning these aspects of English, you will become proficient at using the language you already know to acquire the language you need to know ,- when you need to know it, - which really helps to ensure that you will remember it. 

  During my lessons, you will learn more about grammar, pronunciation and how to use tenses naturally, so that you can understand - and speak like native speakers of English.   

Spending time with native speakers of English is essential for you to develop fluency in speaking English.
