The FWD fitted with a 500 gallon ships water tank was taken at the 5ACS Quarry hutlines in 1959. These vehicles were fitted with a Waukesha petrol engine and were constant 4WD with a centre locking diff. They were virtually indestructable and indeed this particular one keep soldiering on till the Quarry closed using only the front diff after the rear one snapped an axle due to the flogging it copped climbing up the quarry face.
Its presence in the hutlines at the time was to hose out the huts by poking a high pressure pump line under the open side of the building. This was done every Monday after the troops had placed all their gear on their bed before heading off on their shift. No brooms needed there! That was Monday panic night at the Quarry.
