Belt ranking in Mushim-Do consists of a color belt system. All aspects studied in the art use the same system. There are two (2) classifications: Kup, (Grade) and Dan, (Degree.) There are twelve (12) grades, starting with twelfth (12th) and ending with first (1st). There are five (5) degrees, starting with first (1st) and ending with fifth (5th). Corresponding colors are as follows:

12^th Kup --- White Belt

11^th Kup --- White w/ Green Stripe

10^th Kup --- Green Belt

9^th Kup --- Green w/ Blue Stripe

8^th Kup --- Blue Belt

7^th Kup --- Blue Belt w/ Brown Stripe

6^th Kup --- Brown Belt (4th Class)

5^th Kup --- Brown Belt w/ 1 Stripe (3rd Class)

4^th Kup --- Brown Belt w/ 2 Stripes (2nd Class)

3^rd Kup --- Brown Belt w/ 3 Stripes (1st Class)

2^nd Kup --- Red Belt

1^st Kup --- Red Belt w/ Black Tip

Transition Stage --- Black Belt w/ White Center Stripe

1st Dan --- Black Belt w/ 1 Stripe

2nd Dan --- Black Belt w/ 2 Stripes

3rd Dan --- Black Belt w/ 3 Stripes

4th Dan --- 1/2 Red, 1/2 Black Belt

5th Dan --- Black Belt w/ Red Center Stripe
