Students in the Nihongo Summer Program went on a virtual trip to Japan as they learned basic Japanese conversation!
We toured Tokyo Disney Resort, got on Shinkansen, ordered food at a food court, checked out different careers at KidZania, learned how to make Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki, viewed Mt. Fuji, and visited Fuji Safari Park and Kaiyukan (aquarium in Osaka), just to name a few. We also folded origami with Agena Sensei's cousin's daughter in Yokohama, introduced our pets to Agena Sensei's parents in Gifu, toured one of AHS's student's current school in Kyushu, and visited a train station with our former intern Chihiro. What fun!
From Lesson #1: We "flew" to Japan and met Agena Sensei's cousin's daughter in Yokohama. She demonstrated calligraphy for us which said youkoso - welcome. We introduced each other in Nihongo and folded origami together!
From Lesson #2: We toured Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea! We learned how to ask and answer "Where is...?" "It it at...", got on some rides and checked out cute food.
From Lesson #7: We introduced our pets /family members to Agena Sensei's parents in Gifu. We had a whole bunch of pets joining our class that day!
From Lesson #10: One of our AHS friends is in Kyushu now. She gave us a complete tour of her school! What a valuable experience this was!
From Lesson #13: We visited Kaiyukan, a large aquarium in Osaka, then made a penguin toy!

From Lesson #16: We each made a presentation in Nihongo about the places we want to go, see, eat, etc in Japan.
The students could draw, print out photos, or create Google Slides or Buncee for their presentations.
