General Health (17.0110001) Explores the mental, physical, and social aspects of life and how each contributes to total health and well-being; emphasizes safety, nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, disease prevention, environmental health, family life education, health careers, consumer health, and community health.

Personal Fitness (36.0510001) Provides instruction in methods to attain a healthy level of physical fitness. Covers how to develop a lifetime fitness program based on

a personal fitness assessment and stresses strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, body composition and cardiovascular endurance. Includes fitness principles, nutrition, fad diets, weight control, stress management, adherence strategies and consumer information; promotes self-awareness and responsibility for fitness.

Recreational Games (36.0270001).5 unit course (one semester) offered first semester. This course includes leisure games such as badminton, bowling, pickleball, table tennis, horseshoes and Frisbee games. The course covers progressive strategies and activities for each game and lead-up drills; it offers opportunities for a variety of contest situations. Off-campus experience at community bowling facilities may be provided. It is linked with Lifetime Sports for a full year sequence.

Lifetime Sports(36.0220001).5 unit course (one semester) offered second semester

Linked with Recreational Games, this course includes the activities of volleyball, pickleball, tennis, golf, table tennis, bocce, and croquet. Students learn progressive skills, rules of play, and strategies for each activity through lead-up drills and game situations. Opportunities at off-campus community sand volleyball courts or driving range may be provided.

General PE 2 (36.0120001).5 unit course (one semester) offered first semester

This course includes the sports of flag football, basketball, team handball, and soccer and covers progressive skills, rules of play, and strategies for each. Activity will involve technique development, leadup drills and various game situations. It is linked with PE 3 for a full yearsequence.

General PE 3 (36.0130001).5 unit course (one semester) offered second semester

Linked with PE 2 for a full year sequence, this course covers the sports of softball, tennis, volleyball, and team handball with options for table tennis and frisbee games. Sport emphasis includes technique development, lead-up drills, and a variety of game situations.

Weight Training 1 (36.0540001).5 unit course (one semester) offered first semester

Linked with Weight Training II for a full year sequence, this course places emphasis on technique, form, and safety in the weight room; it helps students gain knowledge and learn fundamentals of muscular strength and endurance.

Weight Training 2 (36.0540002).5 unit course (one semester) offered second semester

Linked with Weight Training 1 for a full year sequence, this second semester course is designed to help students develop proficiency in weight training skills, set personal goals, and design an individual workout program.

Outdoor Education (36.0250001)This course introduces various aspects of outdoor education including hiking, conservation, camping, backpacking, cooking over a fire, outdoor safety/survival, climbing, angling, and orienteering. Fundamentals learned in this course are applied during overnight weekend camping trips, rock climbing and white water rafting. Prerequisite: Juniors/Seniors only and must be approved by a PE teacher
