Week 1(8/12-8/14): Introduction to
Photography II/III/IV& classroom rule/
procedures
Hi all, its great to have you in class again, remember that I am going to be out till October on Maternity Leave due to the birth of my son. I will see you soon.
If you are new to photography and have not had photography I please let the teacher know ASAP, because you need to be moved out of the advance class and into Photography I classes.
The rest of you who have had me before or had photography I at another school, welcome. This year is going to be a little different in that fact that you will be using your cell phone to shoot all of your images instead of my cameras. You also will be working differently until I come back by turning in work through google classroom not your wix websites.
Classroom Rules/ Procedure:
1. No food or drinks allowed in computer lab. Drinks must be placed on the file cabinet or
bookcase near door at all times.
2. Students will sit in assigned seats at all times. The computer they are assigned to is the
computer they will check each day they are in class. Students will check equipment over
each time they sit down at their seat. They will inform the teacher if they notice any
writing on equipment, missing equipment or broken equipment. Note: some of the
keyboards are missing keys, but’s still work and we are down two mice.
3. Backpacks will be placed on the floor under their feet. This done for two reasons:
1. It never goes by the screen or any part of the computer because it can scratch or
cause damage to equipment. Students will be held accountable for any damage and
will have to pay for the repair or its replacement of equipment.
2. Backpack go Under the desk so no one trips on the backpack on the floor while
walking down aisle. Safety issues.
4. Cellphones will be kept in your pocket or bag. Cellphone will only be charged up on the
red wood cabinet next to teacher disk and NO WHERE ELSE!!!!!!! This cuts
down on thefts of phones, no one steals in front of the
teacher.
5. All equipment will be treated with care at all times! NO Roughhousing in class or near
equipment at anytime. This includes outside shooting photographs.
6. Students will ask to go to the bathroom & only one students can go at a time.
7. Students will respect each other and the teacher at all time. Everyone will be given
respect.
8. Students are not allowed to watch videos ( you tube), play games ( online games) or
listen to music ( Spotify), no Facebook, Twitter or instagram or plug in ear buds on their
computer at any time.
9. Students will be on time to class.
10. Students are not allowed to show the following on their computer/ website/ in their
photography:

4. Students will log on with their full names for teacher and others to know who they are at
all times.
5. Students will make sure they are in an appropriate location and attire that follow school
dress code.
6. No playing on phones during class time.
7. Students are not allowed to show the following on their computer/ website/ in their
photography:

Course/ Equipment contract: Read over with students. Students and parents must sign and return to teacher. This can be done at the first in person class.
Class Work/Assignments:
All class content is on class website as well as assignments. Google classroom is only used as a way for students to turn in work or be reminded to turn in assignments. Assignment will only be posted on class website. Students much check class website daily for assignment.
Students will come up with a project to shoot every
week until teachers return

on multiple independent projects
Students will come up with a project to shoot every
week until teachers return

to show progression in
your shooting abilities and editing abilities. You also
need to remember to use
all the photography rules you learned in previous
years (i.e. rule of thirds, ect....)

ideas to help each other narrow
down an idea for them to shoot, and to make sure
you are not doing the same
thin over and over because its easy. You need to
come up with 3 possible
project each week to discuss, remember to include
photo examples.

Week -14-16 Finish up projects to be turned in, Finale Review and Finale Exam
Students will work on turning in their lighting project, we will go over their Finale exam questions and then students will take their finale exam.
Week 10-13: Advance Lighting Project
Class will learn about advance lighting styles and be able to practice using them in the black box and try each station.

Week 6: (9/17-9/20): Students will finish work on their Alter Portraits and upload them to their Project page on their Wix Website. Photo II will then go do the journal on Blur Motion Photography. Photo III will research an idea for their independent photo project, purpose it to the teacher and then do the proposal journal in their journal page of their WIX website.

Week 3 (8/27-8/31): Build website for class, send web address and start working on downloading images for Alter Portrait Project.

Still Life Project: (see journal page for still life journal)
Still Life is one of the oldest forms of art and have been done by artist through out the centuries. Still life are basically a grouping of objects/items that the artist have placed to be photograph, drawn or painted. Look at the below images before going and doing the journal on still life.
9/18/17:
Finish answering your Blur Motion questions on your journal page. Once done go find some image of photography you might want to shoot as an independent project and put them on your research page.

Camera and Processing Technique Research Project
Students will research different cameras and processing techniques for this research project. Students will need to go in detail with their answers and use their camera book as well as the internet (DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA).

4. Write a 5-6 paragraph statement on the following:
1. What is your theme? Explain.
2. Why did you pick that theme? Explain.
3. How does each picture you picked fit that theme? Explain.
4. Why does this body of work show that you are a good photographer in that area? Explain.
5. Why should I hire you to be a photographer based on the work you showed me? Explain.

8/22/16: Website Building
Students will build their Wix website where all work will be turned in for class.
Students must have the following pages labeled : Home, Project, Journal, Research, Portfolio
Students must have this at the top of their website: Their first and last name, Photography II/ III, and their period number.
They then save their website by using their first and last name when asked to save then publish it so I can see it.
They then send me the sight address by filling out the google form in the link below:

Students will research different cameras and processing techniques for this research project. Students will need to go in detail with their answers and use their camera book as well as the internet (DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA).

Students will be introduced to their Photographer research project and will start researching for photographers they a want to use in their project.
Photographer Research:
Students will look for 5 different photographers. They will research about the photographer, the way the photographer works and the style of the photographer work. Can be any photographer, (NO NUDITY). Pick 5 images by the photographer and answer the following questions for each image.
About the Photographer:
1.Tell me about the photograher: are they alive, are they still working, how do they like to work
2.Why did you pick this photographer? Explain in detail.
Students will talk about the style of the photographers work by talking about:
1.color/B&W (black and white)/talk about lack of color or the abundance of color
2. content (what is in the photograph-describe it in detail)
