After Equilibration
Jorge Kurchan (Laboratoire de Physique de l’École normale supérieure - ENS, Paris)
What goes on after equilibration? The origin of the question is the following: the interior of black holes are expected to equilibrate long after the system is globally equilibrated, a condition that is dominated by its surface. Duality suggests we look at the corresponding quantum system: the natural question is what happens then to a quantum system at those long, post-equilibration times. Recently, with Xianyu Cao we proposed that large deviation theory is a natural answer.
