Hello, I am Afsana Khan
Recently, I completed my Ph.D. from the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences at Maastricht University. My research focused on developing concepts, techniques, and prototype technologies for federated learning on vertically partitioned data, which is a challenging and underexplored scenario where different data owners hold different features of the same data samples. Throughout my PhD, I developed methods to address several important challenges in this area, including improving communication efficiency, enhancing the effectiveness of learning, and supporting sustainable collaboration between participating data owners.
Previously, I obtained my Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Tartu, Estonia. During my Masters, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Mobile and Cloud Laboratory and contributed to the EU Horizon 2020 Project RADON and the Estonian Research Council-funded project CIISIM. I obtained my Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), affiliated by the Bangladesh University of Professionals, Bangladesh.
