Hello, I am Afsana Khan

Currently, I am pursuing Ph.D. at the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences at Maastricht University. My research focuses on developing concepts, techniques, and prototype technologies for federated learning on vertically partitioned data, which is a challenging and underexplored scenario where different data owners hold different features of the same data instances. I aim to apply my research to real-world domains such as healthcare, maintenance, or logistics, where federated learning can offer significant benefits in terms of data quality, scalability, and security.

Previously, I obtained my Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Tartu, Estonia. During my Masters, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Mobile and Cloud Laboratory and contributed to the EU Horizon 2020 Project RADON and the Estonian Research Council-funded project CIISIM. I obtained my Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), affiliated by the Bangladesh University of Professionals, Bangladesh.
