A Simple and Flexible Tuner for QRP

After building the direct conversion receiver, I decided I needed some form of simple tuner for a longwire antenna. I chose to build the Simple and Flexible Tuner for QRP, designed by

Craig LaBarge, WB3GCK. I followed his design as described and I mounted it in a RadioShack aluminium project box. I did use a BNC female rather than as SO-239 jack. It was a easy build, but my execution of the isolation of the capacitor shaft from the chassis left a bit to be desired. I used a plastic drawer separator from my component storage box as an insulated mount for the capacitor. While it works, it doesn't look very nice and the plastic cracked. I may redo the case evenutally, but I don't use this tuner much any more.
