Late Smt. Dr. Reeta Srivastav 12.07.1952 - 13.03.2002
In memory
of
my loving mother Late Dr. Reeta Srivastav
I remember my mother who always taught, encouraged and supported me to achieve my goals. Because of her teachings I feel, was able to reach to a stage where I could complete my education and achieve my dreams. She has always been my strength and inspiration. She was very caring, affectionate and loving.
She did her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics under guidance of Dr. G.N. Sarma, from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1979. She completed her Ph.D. at a young age of 27 years. Her topic of thesis was Compressible Boundary Layers. She was praised for her excellent research work by some of the well known academicians of India (IIT Kanpur and University of Roorkee) and Great Britain. She was also offered the teaching job in some of the prominent institutions in India. But she chose to be a housewife and brought up me and my younger brother, helped us in our studies and helped my father in his Mining business. Today, my brother is working as Consultant at Microsoft Global Services Hyderabad and is doing very well. I always regret that my mother had sacrificed her career for her family.
She published two papers in reputed referred journals.
Her publication details are:
1. G.N. Sarma and Reeta Srivastava, "Heat transfer in forced oscillatory compressible flow past a yawed cylinder", International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, vol. 29(9), pp. 1439-1443, (1985), Pregamon Journals Ltd., G. Britain (now Elsevier).
2. G.N. Sarma and Reeta Srivastava, "Analytical and Numerical Study of three dimensional oscillatory compressible flow past yawed cylinders with given heat transfer", Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, vol. 12(8), pp. 1007-1026, (1981), Springer.
