I believe, knowledge becomes far more valuable when shared. I choose teaching as a career to impart knowledge to others. I started teaching at a young age. While growing up as a school student, B.E. undergraduate, a M.Tech postgraduate, and even a doctoral scholar , I have always have a high regard for those school teachers and college professors who surpassed at transmitting their knowledge to me. My teaching experiences in various engineering colleges as lecturer, assistant professor and associate professor have not only helped me to improve my teaching skills, but also have encouraged me to pursue a life-long career in teaching and research.
Now that I am equipped with the knowledge of Production Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing as well as research experience at the frontier of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, I am eager for a teaching opportunity to share what I have learned and to inspire those young and fresh minds so often found in academia.
Teaching Experience
I served as guest lecturer (2003-2004) in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the M.M.M. Engineering College, Gorakhpur. This was my first experience of teaching the college students. I was very excited, but at the same time a little nervous. Fortunately, most of the students took to my teaching methods very fast as I tried my best to impart my knowledge on the subject to the students. The best thing happen to me was the valuable guidance on how to teach that I got from well known academicians (Prof. Satya Sheel, Prof. M.S. Das, Prof. T.N. Tandon, Prof. B.B. Singh, Prof. A.K. Bajpai, Dr. S.K. Srivastava and Dr. Govind Pandey) that were very humble and down to earth. They always shared their experiences with me and motivate me to prepare well before delivering a lecture. There, I taught courses on Product development and design, Mechanical systems design, Production and Operations Management and took labs on Fluid machinery and Engineering drawing. The students' enormous interest in my subjects helped to encourage me to do better.
I worked as lecturer (2004-2005) in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Khandari, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar University Agra. There I got the opportunity to work as Assistant Examination Controller during examination, apart from teaching subjects CAD, Engineering Drawing and Management Concepts and Techniques.
Later, I served as lecturer (2005-2006) in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Bichpuri, R.B.S. College Agra. I taught subjects of Industrial Engineering and took lab course on Mechanical Engineering.
Lecturer (2006-2008) in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Agra College, Agra. I taught subjects of CAD, CAM, Operations Research, Machine Drawing and took lab of CAD/CAM and Workshop Technology.
Later on I served as Associate Professor (2008-2010) in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. I taught subjects of Workshop Technology, Manufacturing Science, CAD, Fluid Machinery, Engineering Drawing. I also took lab of CAD and Workshop Technology there. Here I also got the opportunity to serve as Workshop Superintendent. I became very skilled in teaching students as though I was one of the most liked teachers in the department. I realized that my responsibility should go beyond just teaching and I started writing research articles and published in Indian journals. In order to further enrich my knowledge and do a notable research, I later applied in some prominent institutions for PhD admission.
Fortunately I got admission in one of the prestigious institute of research. I did PhD in the area of Industrial Engineering & Operations Management (2011-2018) under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Agrawal in the department of Mechanical Engineering Discipline at the PDPM IIITDM Jabalpur. Here, I got the chance to work as Teaching Assistant in the course of Optimization Techniques, Management of Production Systems, Engineering Drawing and Professional Lab.
After submitting my PhD thesis, I got the job at SKIT Jaipur in 2017, which is one of the best institutions in Rajasthan. At present, I am working here as Associate Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. Here, I teach subjects of Supply & Operations Management, Computer Integrating Manufacturing Sytems, Manufacturing Technology to B.Tech. students. I teach course of Machining Science-I to M.Tech. students and Operations Management-I and II to MBA students.
Teaching Interests
I like to teach Management of Production Systems, Operations Management, Manufacturing Science, CAD, Simulation of Manufacturing Systems based on my own academic background. I would also like to introduce a course on Optimization using Evolutionary Techniques.
Teaching Philosophy
My aim is not just to impart knowledge to students but also to create interest among students for the subject. Apart from developing technical skills in students my objective is to develop their ability for creative thinking. Lastly, my objective is to develop students as independent innovators/researchers.
Finally, course materials should be presented in an interesting and interactive environment, which will make the student want to learn and retain more information. For this reason, I believe that using computer based technology such as slides, and the Internet, is an effective way to complement traditional lectures and even exams. Nevertheless, readings combined with traditional lectures are still the foundation of the educational experience.
My pursuit of higher education and being a research scholar is partly due to several teachers who have inspired me and taught me necessary skills to achieve these goals. Now I would like to be a catalyst for others to fulfill their dreams. I believe my great passion for teaching, various past teaching experience, strong academic background and communication skills will make me an excellent teacher.
