Abderrahim Halimi
Short biosketch
Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University
Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow
Abderrahim Halimi received the Eng. degree in Electronic from the National Polytechnic school of Algiers, Algeria, in 2009 and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Signal Processing from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse in 2010 and 2013, respectively. From October 2013 to September 2015, He was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with the University of Toulouse and the University of Technology of Troyes, France, under the support of the HYPANEMA ANR Project. From 2015 to 2018, He was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate within the Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. Since 2018, He is an Assistant Professor and RAEng Research Fellow within the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences in Heriot-Watt University.
His research activities focus on statistical signal and image processing, with a particular interest in Bayesian inverse problems and model based deep-learning with applications to remote sensing (hyperspectral imaging, satellite altimetry), single-photon depth imaging and medical imaging.
He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society. He is an elected member of the EURASIP Technical Area Committees: Theoretical and Methodological Trends in Signal Processing (TMTSP, since 2019), and Signal Processing for Multisensor Systems (SPMuS, since 2022) and Associate Editor of Digital Signal Processing-Elsevier since 2022 and for SigPro-Signal Processing since 2023. He obtained several awards including a PhD prize, an SRP-PECRE fund, and he is currently the recipient of a 5 years Research Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering.
