The Landscape Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers is currently seeking nominations for the following positions:Â
Communications Director
Program Director
Graduate Student Representative
All Executive Committee officers are required to:
participate in meetings of the LSG and of the Executive Committee
promote LSG membership, events and activities
support LSG activities and presence at the Annual Meeting
contribute to LSG communications, such as LSG's social media presence
maintain content on the LSG website that is relevant to their office
recruit nominees for office.
Terms of office are two years. Nominees must be in good standing with the AAG and the LSG at the time voting begins. A nominee must have been an LSG member for at least 6 of the previous 12 months before their nomination for office.
The Communications Director is responsible for:
recording minutes of each meeting of the Executive Committee and transmitting such minutes to the members of the Executive Committee, and to the AAG as required
overseeing the LSG website by providing content as relevant and ensuring Executive Committee members maintain their sections
overseeing communication with LSG membership
leading on activities to promote LSG and its members.
The Program Director is responsible for:
assisting the Chairperson in completing the duties of that office and presiding over meetings in the absence of the Chairperson
assisting with organizing paper sessions, panel sessions and workshops related to landscape at the AAG annual meeting and other meetings
granting LSG sponsorship to special organized sessions related to landscape at the AAG annual meeting and other meetings
exploring and publicizing opportunities for LSG members to network and collaborate with geographers and non-geographers interested in landscape
assisting the Chairperson in organizing symposia, roundtables, book reviews or other special events as necessary at the AAG annual meeting and other meetings.
The Graduate Student Representative is responsible for:
organizing special sessions and workshops that are of particular interest and benefit to students
encouraging student participation in LSG activities
soliciting student-member input
managing elections for Executive Committee positions and other elections as needed
maintaining regular communication on the LSG's social media
assisting Executive Committee members in the operation of the LSG.
Note: The LSG has two Graduate Student Representatives. The representatives share duties and work together.
