Sins of Salem is but one of a list of clans on the Text based medieval fantasy game, Alter Aeon. Its theme is based on the Salem witch trials, with a few exceptions such as the pretense that the town, that is the clan area, is cursed by the spirits of many a tortured and brutally murdered witch.
It was founded on February 28th, 2016, when at last, having accumulated the credits, experience, and enough gold with witch to maintain the clan for the first several weeks, Belloss was removed from his previous clan and set as owner of the new. Nova, the main character of the same player, maintained her position as elder of the other clan, until later that year.
Along with Belloss as first elder of the clan, was darkstalker, alt of Bleep, who is also responsible for most of the clan area descriptions, as well as the idea on which the clan history is based, later edited, though only slightly, by Belloss. Darkstalker was soon promoted to clan founder, and Sasami, alt of Asuka, founder of clan Fantasmic, was promoted to the position of elder, due to his experience in well maintaining clans. A few months into the clan's creation however, Darkstalker was demoted, not due to conflict of any sort, but only because of inactivity, which was costing the clan severely at the time. 6 months later, in late March of 2017, Sasami was demoted for the same reason, and 2 weeks later Balbus was promoted to elder, a position he had several times before, most recently in the clan Chaos.
Sins of Salem was originally founded upon the idea that there is more to Alter Aeon than earning experience points and leveling, and rather than a, [play to grind], the clan upholds more of a, [laid-back, care free] philosophy, believing that everyone advances at their own pace, and offers to assist anyone who wishes to, whilst still taking their time to enjoy the many various features of the game, such as quests, brewing, scribing and the various rune-based skills among others. While the clan elders manage dues, organize runs, and work to constantly improve the clan area to give the members a more entertaining experience as well as assist individual members with matters such as retrieving equipment, completing quests and supplying means to assist in their progress with a lesser risk of death, they also serve as administrators within the clan, ensuring that the environment within their limit remains civilized and tranquil.
Sins of Salem is not a military orientated clan, in that it is not heavily strict to the point of virtual bondage, where the members can do nothing without permission from the elders and some such nonsense. Saying that, there are still a few simple yet necessary rules, to serve as guidelines of a sort, making the elders' duties all the more manageable as it provides the members with an idea of the sort of reasonable cooperation which is expected of them. These rules can also be found on the website, in the page entitled (clan rules).
