About ILSS
Globally, there is an urgent need to diagnose the causes of human diseases in order to provide appropriate therapies, develop soft matter materials for practical clinical applications, and develop innovative nanodevices for diverse applications. Life Science is a multidisciplinary field of study that comprises of research in the areas of bioimaging, material science, nanomedicine, genetic engineering, protein science, cancer photothermal therapy, biotechnology and biopharmaceutics etc. To date, many great innovative scientific discoveries have been made through the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of Life Science. Therefore, the impact of this field cannot be overemphasized, nevertheless, there are still many unanswered questions that need to be addressed.
The future of Life Science lies on the shoulders of young scientists who are trained not only in research and communication skills but are also ready to take over leadership positions to play essential roles in the scientific community in the future. It is against this backdrop that the 7th International Life Science Symposium (ILSS) is organized by the doctoral students of the International Graduate Program (IGP), graduate school of Life Science, Hokkaido University with the support of Hokkaido University IGP and the Global Institution for Collaborative Research and Education (GI-CoRE). This symposium avails young researchers the opportunity to present their innovative scientific discoveries, network with other researchers from diverse areas of research and build strong communication skills essential for fruitful multidisciplinary collaborations in the international community that will further advance science and technology.
The aims of this symposium are in line with the four philosophies of education of Hokkaido University, consisting of frontier spirit, global perspective, all round education and practical learning, therefore, we invite young scientists to participate actively in this year’s symposium through poster or oral presentations. The 7th International Life Science Symposium (ILSS) will be held in Hokkaido University Conference hall on the 1st of November 2019. Our invited speaker is Prof. Makito Miyazaki from Kyoto University.
