7th Grade Recommended Materials List:
Over the years parents have asked what type of school supplies do I need to buy my child for school.  The state of California has a "free public education", which means school supplies and individual text books are free.  However, many students like to have their own personal supplies and be able to individualize them.  In addition, we have found most students like to purchase some type of backpack to carry books and supplies between classes and to and from home.  If you're interested in purchasing your child's personal supplies, below is a list of items most frequently used.
  • 1.5 inch to 2 inch. 3 ring binder
(Binder with "D" ring is best; binders with sections, pockets, or folders
    are not recommended)
  • (Provided by 7th Grade Teachers) 8- Dividers will be given on 1st day by Ms. O: Labels will be: Notes for Parents, Homework, Math, Language, Social Studies, Science, Electives, Personal

  • A blue or black ink pen
  • Two Pencils

  • College-ruled binder paper - about 20 sheets
Recommended & useful for students to use with iPads.
    - headphones (they are class sets for students to use)
    - stylus (also available in 7th grade classes for students to use)
    - padded carry case

Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) in 7th Grade
10-15 minutes in each class every week
Tuesdays: Ms. Orosco
Wednesdays: Mrs. Godinho
Thursdays: Mrs. Camarena
Fridays: Mr. Tashima
We will also be reading during this time.

This is not part of your SSR Log for Mr. Tashima.
However, you can read your book report book.
This is extra reading time.
We encourage to try new genres and authors.
To be a better reader the book should be a little challenging to read.
You can find books in each of our classrooms, in our wonderful Akers Library, or bring a book from home.
If you need help choosing a book, please ask us for help.

All your 7th grade teachers are avid recreational readers which means we read for fun and find it relaxing. We love to read books, short stories, online news, magazines, and so much more!
