Candy
Robed in elegance,
And memories of good times,
Pearls of my demise lie
Scattered on the floor.
My tailor and doctor agree
Nuggets, gems, sticks, and shapes
Must go in order to resume life
As I once knew it.
Yearning, reaching, scrounging,
Missing the companionship
We once shared,
Contraband becomes virtue.
Until the day that friend
Turns starkly into foe
And I become unaware and clumsy,
Leaving Judas scattered on the floor.
