It means breathing like a dull animal.

The bullet focus of right now,

a mind's bullseye being silence.

He is riding a train headed west

when someone yells “Buffalo!”

then hands him a rifle.

To pull the shiny trigger is an instant,

like breathing in, and then the exhale,

the horrible train steaming on.
