Dear World Learning Brattleboro Community:
I am writing to inform you that we have decided to change the way we handle our needs for health services, and therefore we will be closing the Health Center. I want to take this opportunity to thank Deborah Ronzano and Jean Bristol for their years of service to World Learning and our students. They have been incredibly valuable and loyal members of our community, who have positively impacted the lives of SIT students.
Over the past few months we have explored alternatives to the current model for meeting our needs for medical professionals to review program applicants’ medical forms and provide on-campus services. By partnering with members of the broader Brattleboro community, we have developed a variety of new ways to meet the needs of our students and programs. We are especially pleased that by collaborating with Brattleboro Memorial Hospital we will strengthen an important local institution and favorably impact the long-term health and viability of an institution that is important to World Learning and the Brattleboro community.
The Health Center was an important element of our history during the evolution of the on-campus graduate and undergraduate programs, and the development of our well-recognized study abroad programs. Having said that, this decision reflects many of the strategies that I have discussed with the community, including our intention to focus on our unique strengths and engage outside entities when appropriate, and my desire to support other important Brattleboro institutions, such as the local hospital, that we depend upon.
I want to wish Deborah and Jean all the best in their future endeavors.
